Barbara grew up in Queens, graduated with honors from Queens College, earned a Master’s in English and Comparative Literature at Columbia, and did further post-graduate studies at the University of Michigan before moving with her late husband, Neurologist David Haas, to Fayetteville, where she’s lived contentedly ever since.
She has written theater reviews for the Syracuse Post-Standard, Eagle Newspapers, and – way back when — WONO-FM and the Nickel Review. Her day job at various times over the years has been as publicity/community relations director for the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, Syracuse Stage, Hospice of CNY, and, as a volunteer, Syracuse Friends of Chamber Music. For more than thirty years she has joined other CNY theater enthusiasts in making a more or less annual pilgrimage to London to gorge on the excellent offerings there.
Currently, since family connections draw her often to New York, she has been getting acquainted with the many small theater companies tucked away in Soho and the East Village.
