Michael O’Connor teaches composition, American literature, and the literatures of diversity at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, New York. He did his graduate work on 19th Century Irish-American literature, literatures of immigration, African American Literature, and ethnic studies at Syracuse University.
His current teaching and research interests include composition, LGBTQ literature, ethnic studies, African American literature, film, and drama. In addition to scholarly and academic pursuits he sits on the Diversity Council at Onondaga, and has instituted the Strength in Diversity Film Series at Onondaga to celebrate the diversity of the student body and to help encourage the local community to look to its diversity as a strength.
O’Connor holds a Bachelors and Masters degree from Syracuse University, and is in the process of finishing his dissertation for his Ph.D. degree.
